Kaiser Permanente IT Project Manager Interview

Average Interview – Overall Negative Experience – Yes, and I accepted – Thu, 13 Aug 2015

Interviewed Jun 2015 in Greenwood Village, Arapahoe, CO(took 21 days)
Team managers phone screen about 30 minutes and 1-hour F2F onsite, both had multiple people in them. Typical background, technical, situational and behavioral types of questions. After they contacted me and going thru the interviews, fed & local background checks, drug screening, offer acceptance and HR policy agreement and the entire hiring process for 3-weeks, I was called by the recruiter after the 4th of July and told that the project had been cancelled because all funding had disappeared.

Interview Questions
Funding had been pulled back by their senior leadership and most non-essential hiring was going to slow or completely stop for awhile. Apparently KP is having major financial and leadership issues this summer because of ongoing labor negotiations. I do not have a favorable impression of them anymore, they just left me hanging with no path forward anymore except to say since they invested the time and effort into recruiting me, once the management approves new headcount and funds, I will be a top candidate. That was 4-weeks ago and not a word so nothing has changed. Many other people were impacted too here in the area.

Phone interview with manager, panel interview with behavioral Interview style where everyone asks a question. I waited about a week to hear back and was offered the position based on passing the next steps. It still took about a month for everything to go through, reference checks, drug test etc. before getting a start date

Interviewed Oct 2014 in Berkeley, CA(took 240 days)
I applied online and was called by the recruiter. Recruiter was pleasant and went over my resume and my expectations. The phone screen was followed by a telephone conversation with the hiring manager and 2 panel telephone interviews. Interview team was very professional and pleasant. After about a month or so I was invited to a on site interview. The negotiation process was very slow and lengthy.

I was very nervous for my interview, kaiser is, of course, a dream company to work for if you are looking for good retirement benefits and job security. I wasn't coming in with a lot of experience and was concerned about how this would be perceived. The interview was similar to others I have been through, a lot of team and management and troubleshooting questions. It definitely felt like there was a specific template, but was rather routine. The nurse manager made me feel surprisingly comfortable, but I'm sure this is not always the case. My best advice would be to over prepare and know as much about the company that you can... And be able to throw that out during the interview. Good luck!

Called Department to ask if positions were available. I was immediately given an interview date based on skills and qualifications. The day of the interview I was asked to demonstrate Microsoft Excel Proficiency due to the large amounts of data that the department gathers and maintains. Interview questions were a bit difficult to answer but skills landed me the position.

It was a panel interview with the HR personnel, radiology supervisor and another technologist. First they asked about my background, skills and my schedule. Handle 40 to 80 bed unit during a time period including employee reviews, regional goals and attendance. The assistant management follows the management style and work philosphy. They champion one or two issues in the unit to encourage, direct and reprimand front line staff into following the standards. The interviews were divided up in three separate panels. One panel included management and educators. The second group included physicians. The third panel was made up of front line staff. Each panel interview took approximately an hour.

I completed the application and was emailed by a few positions I applied for to complete their assessment and medication testing. Once completed I got called for an interview for the Oncology Dept. I totally was not prepared for a behavioral type interview. It had been years for me. So needless to say, I bombed it! Got called a week later for another position but as a pediatric nurse which I have experience in. Talked to the recruiter for a food half hour on phone. She gave me many interview tips and made me feel a lot more confident. The following day I had an interview, it was only 3 ladies in the panel this time and they all were very pleasant. The feedback I received back from them was totally positive. The interview was almost hour long. I left feeling great!!
